CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cavs’ roster is now full.
Sources tell cleveland.com the team and G League forward Riley Minix have agreed on a two-way contract, giving Minix the third — and final — two-way roster slot while also putting the Cavaliers at the maximum of 18 players for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
After going undrafted out of Morehead State in 2024, the 25-year-old Minix was on a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs at the start of this season. He appeared in three games, tallying nine total points.
Last month, Cleveland acquired his rights from the G League’s Austin Spurs in a three-team swap that saw the Charge send their 2027 first- and second-round G League Draft picks to the Westchester Knicks — a move that pointed to Cleveland’s affinity for Minix.
With versatile forward Nae’Qwan Tomlin recently having his two-way contract converted into a standard NBA deal, the Cavs had one available two-way slot. After weighing all their options, including reigning G League Player of the Week, Norchad Omier, who has starred for the Charge this season, Cleveland decision-makers chose Minix.
A 6-foot-7 forward, considered a late bloomer, Minix has averaged 17.5 points on 51.2% from the field and 42.6% from 3-point range in the G League this season. He has impressed in his short time with the Charge, showing a high basketball IQ, versatile skillset and reliable shooting stroke — all traits that fit the Cavs mold and have them thinking he can be a good fit for the current NBA roster.
Given the Cavs are already deep into the regular season, Minix will only have a prorated number of games in which he can be active for the Cavaliers. Most of his time will continue to be spent with the Charge.
Tristan Enaruna and Emanuel Miller are the others currently on two-way contracts.
