Two Detroit Pistons are facing suspensions after a brawl broke out vs. the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night.
The NBA is suspending Pistons center Jalen Duren for two games, and Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart, who came off the bench during the fight, for seven games.
The NBA said Stewart’s suspension includes his “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts.” Stew’s suspension will cost him more than $700,000, according to Bobby Marks.
Hornets players Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate were both suspended four games each.
Duren and Stewart will begin serving their suspensions on Wednesday night vs. Toronto. Yahoo’s Chris Hayes reported that Duren will still be allowed to play in the All Star Game this weekend, despite the suspension.
The fight started after Pistons center Jalen Duren reacted to a hard foul by Hornets center Moussa Diabate with a slap or push to his face.
Diabate charged at Duren in response and things quickly got out of hand. Hornets forward Miles Bridges took a swing at Duren, which brought Isaiah Stewart off the bench, which is prohibited in the NBA. All four involved were ejected from the game.
