Chicago Bulls guard and NBA Slam Dunk Contest legend Mac McClung revealed four dunks that he would’ve attempted if he participated in the 2026 event.

McClung showcased the quartet of dunks in a Saturday post on X.

After winning the Slam Dunk Contest in each of the prior three years, McClung confirmed that he wouldn’t appear in the 2026 competition on Jan. 24.

He detailed the events that led up to his absence in the 2026 contest during an interview with HoopsHype’s Cyro Asseo on Thursday.

“Originally, I told everybody I was done,” McClung told Asseo. “I retired after the third year, and they’re good friends of mine. We’re in contact a lot, and they were talking about this next year, and I was pretty much saying: ‘I’m not going to do it’. But I prepared anyway, just in case maybe I would. I think there was just back and forth of us being like this, and then they were calling me, being like ‘People didn’t want to do it if I was doing it’, and I thought it’s best if I just sit out this year and let it be, no matter what.”

His prowess in the Slam Dunk Contest is well-known, as he earned perfect scores for all four of his slams in 2025.

McClung and former point guard Nate Robinson are the only two players in NBA history to win the dunk contest on three separate occasions.

This year, the participants were Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes, San Antonio Spurs forward Carter Bryant, Orlando Magic guard Jase Richardson and Miami Heat forward Keshad Johnson.

Bryant and Johnson advanced to the final round on Saturday before Johnson won with scores of 49.6 points and 47.8 points on his final two dunks.

As for McClung, he’s currently on a two-way contract with the Bulls and has spent the majority of his 2025-26 campaign with the G League’s Windy City Bulls.

He’s averaged 27.4 points and 7.5 assists per game while shooting 50.7 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from behind the arc across across 16 regular-season contests in the G League this year.
