The Philadelphia 76ers have been an impressive team this season, and that can be linked to Joel Embiid’s return to healthy basketball. Of course, he is not playing every game, but he is overall healthier and happier.

That can be felt with the rest of the 76ers, who are being propped up by Embiid’s presence. One of them is his co-star Tyrese Maxey, who has continued to elevate his game to complement Embiid.

Maxey is ecstatic about Embiid’s improved durability

Everyone in the NBA community knows that when healthy, Embiid is one of the best players in the league. He can be on the same level as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic. Unfortunately, he has been saddled with all types of injuries in recent years.

Thankfully, Embiid has an MVP under his belt from the 2022-23 season, but he has struggled with injuries ever since. Now that the NBA is in the 2025-26 season, Embiid has returned to promising health, which has benefited the 76ers.

Maxey has been a fantastic teammate for Embiid through the years because they have had a little brother and big brother relationship. Now that Maxey is a fully realized All-Star, he is playing on the same level as his co-star.

“I’m just happy to see him happy again, playing, and having fun. It was tough for him last year when he did get on the court. I don’t think he was having joy and fun. Injuries could do that to you,” Maxey said in his All-Star Media Day interview.

Moving forward, Maxey and Embiid would want to keep going. With VJ Edgecombe’s arrival, they have another star waiting in the wings. This 76ers team has immense potential, and that could be due to Embiid’s improved health.
