The Brooklyn Nets did not make a splash prior to the February trade deadline as they still kept forward Michael Porter Jr. and center Nic Claxton on the roster. Brooklyn made some interesting moves in waiving guard Cam Thomas and forward Tyrese Martin and with All-Star Weekend in the rearview mirror, some players are finding their new homes for the rest of the season.

Derek Bodner of PHLY Sports reported on Monday that the Philadelphia 76ers intend to sign Martin to a Two-Way contract after the team converts forward Jabari Walker to a standard NBA deal. Martin was waived prior to the trade deadline so that the Nets could make room for former Toronto Raptors guard Ochai Agbaji and former Boston Celtics forward Josh Minott.

Earlier in the day on Monday, NBA insider Jake Fischer reported that guard Nate Williams of the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s G League afiliate, signed a Two-Way deal with the Golden State Warriors. Williams spent the entirety of the 2025-26 season in the G League, but he has also bounced around the league since coming in as as undrafted free-agent out of the 2022 NBA Draft.

Martin, 26, averaged 7.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 39.2% from the field and 33.6% from three-point land during his 37 appearances for the Nets this season. Martin played primarily a bench role for Brooklyn since coming to the team prior to the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign, but he now moves on to a 76ers team that could need his help in the backcourt.

Williams, 27, averaged 18.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 47.2% from the floor and 36.5% from deep in 35 games played for Long Island this season. Williams could see some playing time with the Warriors, especially as the team is dealing with some injuries to players like Jimmy Butler so it’s good to see him and Martin potentially get the opportunities that they were looking for.
