The Brooklyn Nets (15-38) were one of the teams expected to be active heading into the trade deadline given that the team would likely be looking for more draft picks and/or young players. Many around the NBA thought that Brooklyn would at the least trade away forward Michael Porter Jr. for a couple of first-round picks, but they decided to hold on to the sharpshooting forward.

Instead, the Nets made some smaller moves to achieve certain goals, such as waiving forward Haywood Highsmith, forward Hunter Tyson, guard Cam Thomas, and forward Tyrese Martin. The biggest move that Brooklyn made at the deadline was waiving Thomas, a player that the Nets selected in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft, but the relationship faltered after prolonged negotiations this past offseason.

Thomas came into the 2025-26 season on a one-year, $6 million qualifying offer (QO), but after he refused two different offers from the Nets, it seemed like the writing was on the wall. After Thomas was waived, he joined the Milwaukee Bucks and spoke on how he felt that the organization valued him and his skillset so the hope is that he can flourish in Milwaukee.

The Nets also brought in two players to potentially shake up the rotation during the second half of the season in former Toronto Raptors forward Ochai Agbaji and former Boston Celtics forward Josh Minott. Minott has not taken the floor yet for the Nets, but Agbaji has seen some time for head coach Jordi Fernandez before heading into the All-Star Break.

The Nets have 29 games left to play in the season and most of that time will probably be spent on giving as much playing as possible to the rookies and younger players on the roster. Brooklyn will continue to be led by Porter and center Nic Claxton on the floor with the hope that the rookies continue to grow. Here’s the Nets’ roster that they will be fielding towards the end of the 2025-26 campaign:
