On Friday the Minnesota Timberwolves will again take the court following the All-Star Break. Anthony Edwards returns to the lineup having been named the game’s MVP. He’ll also be flanked by Mike Conley, who was traded, then waived, and now re-signed.

Chris Finch has to make some decisions when it comes to his rotation down the stretch. Tim Connelly swung a trade to add Ayo Dosunmu from the Chicago Bulls. Conley is also back to absorb some bench minutes. Johnny Juzang won’t be around, though minutes were virtually non-existent for him anyways.

Johnny Juzang waived by Minnesota Timberwolves

This offseason the Minnesota Timberwolves brought in Johnny Juzang as a bench addition. He showed some promise during the preseason, but there was never any opportunity for minutes to rack up. Now he’ll get a chance to latch on elsewhere.

The Timberwolves are waiving Johnny Juzang. He shot the lights out in the preseason but was never able to crack the rotation. He impressed the Wolves with his work ethic. Now maybe he will get a chance at consistent playing time elsewhere.

Through their first 56 games this season, Juzang has gotten into just 21 contests. The four-year veteran joined Minnesota after three seasons in Utah. He had logged just 4.2 minutes per game this season, and the 2.0 points per game were a new low as well.

Last season with the Jazz, Juzang averaged a career-high 19.8 minutes per game, and 8.9 points per game. Of course that team went 17-65 to finish 15th in the Western Conference.

Finch will incorporate Mike Conley back into the rotation, though he has seen career-lows across the board. Dosunmu’s addition though, is where the largest spike in minutes is coming from the rest of the way. There wasn’t room for Juzang, and the team sees little drop from his departure.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are hoping to get over the hump after back-to-back Western Conference Finals appearances. It’s worth being skeptical if they can, and Connelly was certainly trying for a big addition at the deadline.
