The Pistons continue to sit atop the Eastern Conference with their 40-13 record, and they have the conference’s best road mark (18-7) as they kick off the second half of their season. Detroit strung together three straight wins before the All-Star Break, starting with a 118-80 home win over the Knicks and continuing on the road against the Charlotte Hornets (110-104) and Toronto Raptors (113-95) on Feb. 9 and 11, respectively. Cade Cunningham flirted with a triple-double in both road wins, most recently going for 28-7-9 against Toronto.

The Knicks had a couple stumbles closer to the All-Star Break, going 2-2 in their final four games of the first half, but otherwise went 10-2 over the three weeks before the Break. The New York offense thrived behind Jalen Brunson and topped 130-plus points four times in seven February games thus far. Last time out, Jose Alvarado went scorched earth coming off the bench, drilling 8-of-13 shots, all 3-pointers, to lead the team with 26 points in a 138-89 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 11.
