Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations can rebuild the team to contend again, but the path to do it is a narrow one if major changes are not to be made to the storied ball club’s roster. With a rapidly ballooning payroll and repeater tax bill coming at the same time Jayson Tatum and possibly Jaylen Brown will be out injured for what could be a large chunk of the season (and in Tatum’s case, quite likely all of it), Stevens will have some tough choices to make.

Will it be possible to shed salary AND keep the team from losing too much talent? Is it possible to move on from players like Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, and Sam Hauser, or will Boston need to trade away a player like Brown?
