The No. 6 Iowa State Cyclones travel to Provo, Utah, for a top-25 matchup with the No. 23 BYU Cougars on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN. The Cyclones are coming off consecutive top-10 wins against Houston and Kansas; BYU comes home after a 75-68 road loss at Arizona on Wednesday. Here’s our prediction, preview, odds and key storylines to prep you for tipoff this weekend.

Iowa State vs. BYU Game Odds

Iowa State enters the contest as a 3.5-point favorite with an over/under of 155.5 points. BYU, sinking to No. 23 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, is an underdog on their home floor after giving up a home loss to Houston earlier this month, and barely scraping by Colorado at home 90-86 in overtime last weekend.

Key Storyline: Can BYU Salvage its Final Home Stretch?

The Cougars have just three home games remaining at the Marriott Center, and the Iowa State game this weekend marks the start of the team’s final two-game home stand. Saturday night’s game is a major opportunity to get some momentum behind Kevin Young‘s crew as BYU navigates the remainder of the regular season. BYU is 2-5 through its last seven games, including home losses against Big 12 frontrunners Arizona and Houston.

Match Up to Watch: Who Can Get to Momcilovic?

Houston held Iowa State forward Milan Momcilovic to just 2 of 5 from the floor, but that’s also the league’s top defense we’re talking about. The Wisconsin native still enters Saturday’s game dishing out 18.0 points and 3.2 rebounds per night. An injured Richie Saunders might normally take up that assignment, but instead it’ll fall to AJ Dybantsa, who already has a pretty full plate, or Kennard Davis Jr.

Prediction: Iowa State 80, BYU 77

The Marriott Center is no handout, and BYU needs a win like this to regain its footing before the end of an already rough February slate for the Cougars. If Iowa State can slow down Dybantsa just enough, it’s likely the Cyclones get out of Dodge by a possession or two. Defensively, BYU allows just too much to make a safe bet against an Iowa State team with their growing pains behind them.
