The San Antonio Spurs extended their winning streak to eight games, beating the Sacramento Kings 139-122 at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, on Saturday.

Victor Wembanyama had another sensational performance to lead all scorers. He finished with 28 points on 11-of-20 shooting, adding 15 rebounds, six assists, one steal and four blocks.

No other Spurs player scored more than 20 points, with the team’s next best scorers being De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle and Keldon Johnson, who recorded 18 points apiece.

Keegan Murray and DeMar DeRozan scored 20 points each for the Kings, while Malik Monk added 19. Unfortunately, the Spurs proved to be too much for Sacramento, as Wembanyama and company led by as many as 28 points before settling for the 17-point victory.

Wembanyama also provided one of the best highlights of the game. Early in the fourth quarter, the French big man got past Kings center Maxime Raynaud and found a clear path to the basket.

The Spurs star took the opportunity to dunk the ball, but he didn’t simply throw it down. Instead, he did a double pump to the delight of the home crowd.

Wembanyama’s message after delivering the highlight reel-worthy moment stood out even more. According to the 22-year-old, he sees himself participating in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in the future.

“I’ll be in the dunk contest one day,” he said during his postgame interview.

It’s uncertain if Wembanyama is being serious, but his presence would certainly bring much-needed star power to the popular competition.

G League standout Mac McClung has brought life to the showcase in recent years, but the reception for the dunk contest was underwhelming in 2026 after McClung decided to skip the event. Miami Heat forward Keshad Johnson won the dunk title this year.

One of the most memorable dunk contests was the 2016 edition, when Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon had an epic showdown, but that was already a decade ago. Ever since then, there has been little to celebrate about the competition.

Perhaps Wembanyama can participate in the dunk contest in 2027 in Phoenix. That would make the All-Star Saturday even more epic, especially with Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry recently committing to participate in the 3-point contest — with plans to bring on 2026 winner Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson and Devin Booker.
