The Portland Trail Blazers weren’t the only local basketball club in action on Sunday. The franchise’s G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix, took on the Santa Cruz Warriors Sunday afternoon at the Chiles Center with Blazers rookies Yang Hansen and Caleb Love in tow.

Love did what he does best — shoot the rock! — putting up 25 points in 34 minutes on 11-26 gunning from the field, four assists three rebounds and two steals. Yang posted a double-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 29 minutes while shooting 5-9 from the floor. But both players turned the ball over five times apiece as their contributions came in a 118-113 loss.

Santa Cruz gained control of the game and a 65-49 halftime lead by outscoring Rip City 33-19 in the second quarter. After trailing by 15 early in the fourth quarter, the Remix went on a 19-7 run to cut the deficit to 100-97 with about six minutes remaining. Then the Warriors extinguished that momentum, basically putting the game on ice with a 13-2 run.

Blazers two-way contract guard Javonte Cooke led the Remix with 33 points on 12-26 shooting, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Santa Cruz was led by guard Marques Bolden, who dropped 30 points and eight 3-pointers.

The Remix take on the Warriors in a rematch at the Chiles Center on Tuesday night, the same day the Blazers face the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Moda Center.
