Rookie Maxime Raynaud registered another double-double performance on Monday, helping the Sacramento Kings snap a franchise-record 16-game losing streak.
With Russell Westbrook (25 points) and Precious Achiuwa (22 points) leading the way, Raynaud finished with 10 points, 13 rebounds and two assists in the 123-114 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. He shot 5-of-9 from the field and was a plus-10 in 27 minutes, 41 seconds.
The 42nd overall pick helped the Kings get off to a fast start, tallying eight points and six rebounds in the first quarter alone. He has now hauled in at least 10 rebounds in three straight games, tied for the second-longest streak by a rookie this season.
“When he gets the opportunity, it is about making the most out of your opportunity,” Kings coach Doug Christie said. “He is going out there, I think that he learns nightly. … I think that we’re seeing an ability to play through him as he continues to grow — DHOs, passing from the elbows and the high post and understanding how to set screens and chest the ball and roll.”
Raynaud is averaging 10.1 points, seven rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting 55% shooting from the field in 51 appearances, including 33 starts. He leads all first-year players in double-doubles (11) and is second in total rebounding (357).

The 7-footer has given Christie & Co. strong production as a starter, registering each of his double-doubles in that role. He has received the green light to play his brand of basketball and will look to build positive momentum over the rest of the season.
Raynaud has emerged as one of the top first-year players this season and appears to have a strong case to earn an NBA All-Rookie Team selection. The organization has been pleased with his development and believes he should be in contention for that recognition.
“Max with the most double-doubles in the NBA for a rookie is big-time stuff,” Christie said. “… He is deserving of any and all awards that he gets because the kid has played some really good basketball, in spite of all the things we’ve gone through.”
