The Charlotte Hornets continue to be one of the most impressive teams in the league over the past few months. They sit in the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 30-31 record and they have a four-game winning streak.

They were impressive before the trade deadline in February, but they made even more improvements by trading with the Chicago Bulls for Coby White. Now, he looks like a natural fit with the current rotation.

White has found it easy to play with the Hornets

Before the trade, the Hornets had Collin Sexton, who was quite good for the team. However, getting White is the better option because he is a more natural fit with the Hornets’ system under head coach Charles Lee.

White is a bigger player, but he still has upside with his scoring, playmaking, and defense. At the same time, White is a hometown player, as he was born, raised, and played college basketball in North Carolina.

Lee is glad that everyone is loving how the Hornets are playing these days. That is boosted even more by how White has been such a seamless addition to the Hornets roster after the trade.

“Between the competitive spirit and wanting to have togetherness on and off the court, he embodies that. I think that we see his competitiveness on both ends of the floor,” Lee said after beating the Blazers on Saturday.

“When he’s on the bench, he’s engaged, being a vocal leader, he’s been through a lot of experiences. Our guys respect him as a player, but also as a professional.”

The Hornets nearly have a .500 record, and they are on pace to get past that. They have been excellent in 2026, and they have found their stride with their core trio of Brandon Miller, Kon Knueppel, and LaMelo Ball.

Adding White to that core is the cherry on top, as they have a high-octane offense that will only get better with the abundance of talent they have on the roster.
