Few players were tougher, physically and mentally, than former MiamI Heat veteran Udonis Haslem.

Haslem was never the best player on the Heat, but the OG’s voice was always loud. But in one statistical category, his production spoke volumes as well.

Over 4,800 days ago in Novermber of 2012, Haslem broke Alonzo Mourning’s record for most rebounds in franchise history. Haslem corralled 985 more than his former teammate and still holds the record. Though one player is creeping up behind him: Bam Adebayo.

Adebayo, in his ninth season, passed Mourning in rebounding last February, and is now less than 300 rebounds — 245, to be exact — from surpassing Haslem, a Miami native who is one of three players to have ever played 20 seasons with one franchise.

After the Heat’s 115-105 win over the Houston Rockets, Haslem and Adebayo — who were teammates for six seasons — shared a funny moment regarding the milestone.

There are just 21 games left in the season. So assuming Adebayo plays all of them, he’d have to average roughly 11.7 per game in order to reach 245. The 28-year-old has 24 double-doubles on the season and has exceeded 12 rebounds nine times over his last 23 games, averaging 10.3 boards over that stretch.

Thus, it’s possible — though unlikely — Adebayo is unlikely to pass it this season unless he puts it into sixth gear. Nevertheless, Adebayo, who scored 24 points with 11 rebounds against Houston, has played phenomenal basketball for the better part of two months post-back injury, which limited his explosiveness, mobility and impact.

Bam Adebayo over his last 22 games:

🔥21.7 PTS
🔥10.1 REB
🔥3.1 AST
🔥45.2 FG%
🔥36.7 3P%
🔥52.2 eFG%
🔥56.9 TS%

Has been outstanding for the better part of two months post-injury. Complete game-changer on both ends when he’s rolling. #HEATNation pic.twitter.com/lLX08JgpaQ
