First and foremost, I wanna thank the Leonsis family and the Wizards organization for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream to make it to the NBA.
coming from Raleigh, North Carolina, all I think about was making it to 18 years old.
I never thought this was possible.
I love y’all.
This is my city.
This is still my house, and I love y’all, and thank y’all for tonight.
That was just last month when John Wall was honored by the Wizards in DC.
We’re honored to be joined by the legend himself right now.
John, thanks for hanging out with us, man.
What was that night like for you to get that recognition from Washington?

it was a great night.
I think most importantly, just having my boys there, them not really getting the opportunity to see me play in the Wizards organization and see how much this city really meant to me.
So I think just having them there, having a lot of my family and friends there, just being back around the organization, being that being able to see the young talent that they have and watching them grow and see the right path they’re trying to do with the great trades they made and trying to see if they can get this franchise back to winning games, bringing some excitement back in the building.
So for me, it was just a great day, a great moment, a lot of joyful things to be proud of.

And like I said, just having my family there, that’s what it was all about for me.
I’m so glad that you and your family got that opportunity just to celebrate everything that you brought to that organization.
I mean, you were franchise leader in assists and steals, fourth all-time in points, five-time All-Star.
Did I get it all?
Because I’m sure the list goes on and on and on in everything that you brought to Washington.
So, you know, obviously, you made such a big impact on an organization.
What kind of impact do you think new acquisitions, Trae Young and Anthony Davis, could make for the Wizards this season?

I think they can make a lot.
I think the most important thing for them is the impact off the court.
I think being a basketball player, we all are expected to be great, and we’re all expected to go out there and show what we really can do at a high level.
But those two guys have been in the league for a little while.
They understand what it is and what it means to be in the community.
I think that’s the most important thing for them, is touching the community.
The basketball part, we already know how special those guys are.
I think the most important thing is just making sure you touch the community and be genuine.
Be yourself.
Don’t try to come in and be somebody you’re not.
this fan base will adapt to you.
They will love you, and you can have a lot of fun here.
