The Brooklyn Nets are still looking for their first win since returning from the All-Star break and the good news is that they have been resting in Miami for the past few days. Brooklyn is coming off a 124-98 loss at the Heat on Tuesday in which the Nets did not play close to what they’re capable of and they will continue to deal with injuries in Thursday’s rematch.

The Nets announced on Wednesday that rookie guards Egor Demin and Drake Powell will be out for Thursday’s game at Miami due to their respective reasons. Demin will be out of the lineup as Brooklyn is trying to manage his left plantar fascia that he injured this past offseason while Powell remains with the Long Island Nets as part of his G League assignment.

Demin, who turned 20 years old on Tuesday, is having a solid rookie season thus far as he’s averaging 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 39.9% from the field and 38.5% from three-point land. Demin, who NBA.com’s Steve Aschburner now has as the 10th-best rookie in the NBA, has missed the past two games due to the team being cautious with his plantar fascia.

Powell, 20, has had his fair share of struggles this season as he’s averaging 6.0 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 42.4% from the floor and 28.2% from deep. Powell has missed Brooklyn’s past three games while on his G League assignment, but it seems that he is adapting to his new situation in Long Island as he is averaging 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game over his last two G League outings.

For the Heat, Simone Fontecchio (groin), Nikola Jovic (back), and All-Star Norman Powell (groin) have been ruled out for Thursday’s rematch against the Nets due to their respective injuries. While Powell being out of Miami’s rotation should have the Nets a better chance of winning the game, they still have to figure out how to limit Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro along the way.
