The Houston Rockets are at home on Thursday night as they host the Golden State Warriors in a Western Conference showdown.

For the Rockets, they have put together a solid season thus far as they currently sit third in the Western Conference standings with a 38-22 record.

Despite this, Houston is currently tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves for third in the West and they sit only one game ahead of the Denver Nuggets, who are currently the fifth seed.

Because of this, the Rockets will try to pick up a key victory at home against the Warriors on Thursday night with their core led by Kevin Durant leading the way for them.

While Houston will try to grab a key win on Thursday night, they received mixed injury news regarding two of their key players on Wednesday.

Ahead of Thursday’s matchup against the Warriors, the Rockets announced that both Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun have been listed as questionable.

For Thompson, he is expected to return on Thursday night after head coach Ime Udoka told reporters on Wednesday that he will be good to go against Golden State.

Of course, Thompson exited Monday’s victory over the Washington Wizards in the fourth quarter due to a right ankle injury but it appears as though the young guard will be able to play through the injury on Thursday.

This is great news for Houston as Thompson has been a key piece for them on both ends of the court this season as the 23-year-old is averaging 17.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 51.1% from the field and 20.0% from three this season.

On the other side, Sengun has been listed as questionable for Thursday’s matchup due to an illness and he is in danger of missing his first game since January 9.

If Sengun is unable to play against the Warriors, it would be a tough blow for the Rockets as the star big man has played a key role for the team this season alongside Durant in the starting lineup.

This season, the 23-year-old center is averaging 20.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 50.1% from the field and 28.9% from three.

Clint Capela could be in line for an increased role if Sengun is sidelined on Thursday, especially with Steven Adams out for the remainder of the season due to ankle surgery.

While the Rockets are dealing with injuries to some of their key players ahead of Thursday’s game, they will try to grab a key victory at home as they try to keep pace with the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs in the West standings.
