The Atlanta Hawks will return to the court on Tuesday, March 9, to host the Dallas Mavericks.
As the Hawks have been playing without their star trade deadline acquisition, Jonathan Kuminga, they received a positive update on Monday night.
According to the Hawks’ official injury report, Kuminga has been upgraded to questionable. The veteran forward has been dealing with a knee-related setback as of late.
Kuminga’s Latest Appearance For The Atlanta Hawks
The last time the Hawks rolled out Kuminga was during their March 1 matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers.
At the time, Kuminga came off the bench for 25 minutes. He had an efficient game on the offensive end of the floor, shooting 7-10. He knocked down one out of his two threes. Kuminga scored 20 points in the blowout 135-101 victory over Portland.
Kuminga was a part of three games during the Hawks’ current hot streak. In a game against the Washington Wizards, Kuminga shot 9-12 from the field to score 27 points. He also had seven rebounds and four assists in the 119-98 win. That game served as his Hawks debut.
The follow-up performance against the Wizards was Kuminga’s first and only start for the Hawks. He checked in for nearly 30 minutes and shot 5-9 from the field to score 17 points. He nearly logged a double-double by coming down with nine rebounds.
Although Kuminga has had a hard time staying available for the Hawks since getting traded to Atlanta from the Golden State Warriors, his small sample size has been impressive.
In three games, Kuminga is shooting 67% from the field, while posting averages of 21.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists.
Next Up For The Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks are on the hunt for their seventh win in a row. They hold a 33-31 record going into the matchup against the Mavs.
With the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference, the Hawks could soon jump the struggling Philadelphia 76ers, who possess the eighth seed. The Hawks trail Philly by 1.5 games. The Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic are 2.5 games ahead of Atlanta in the standings.
The Hawks and the Mavericks are slated for a 7:30 PM ET tip on Tuesday.
