Disney+ March 11 announced the addition of the NCAA March Madness College Basketball Tournament — the division I men’s and women’s tournaments, to its live sports slate across Europe and South Africa, marking an expansion of ESPN’s global NCAA rights agreement onto the streaming platform.
From March 17 to April 7, Disney+ subscribers will have access to all 134 tournament games.
March Madness is a single-elimination tournament with 68 teams each for the men’s and women’s championships. Selection Sunday (March 15) is the day is the day when the NCAA Selection Committee officially announces the full 68-team brackets.
The University of Florida Gators and University of Connecticut Huskies hold last year’s men’s and women’s titles, respectively.
This expansion harnesses ESPN’s long-standing NCAA rights portfolio reflects the integration of college sports across the Disney direct-to-consumer platforms. With over three decades as the exclusive TV broadcaster of Women’s March Madness, ESPN has driven sustained audience growth in the U.S. and internationally, and now brings that expertise to Disney+ across Europe and South Africa.
March Madness joins Disney+’s growing European sports lineup, which includes the UEFA Women’s Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League soccer tournaments in Denmark and Sweden, and Spain’s LALIGA in the U.K. and Ireland.
“Bringing March Madness to Disney+ across Europe reflects the ongoing collaboration between ESPN and the NCAA, and the commitment both organizations share to grow college basketball internationally,” said Diego Londono, SVP networks & sports EMEA at Disney.
