With just days left until Selection Sunday and March Madness, it’s crunch time in conference tournaments around the country.
Duke is the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, but heads to Charlotte for the ACC tournament with a few question marks after late-season injuries to Caleb Foster and Patrick Ngongba II. Blue Devils coach Jon Scheyer ruled them both out this weekend, which cracks open the door for Virginia, Miami and possibly even North Carolina.

The kicker, of course, is that Duke still has national player of the year frontrunner Cameron Boozer. He’s been a monster this season, averaging 22.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.

The Tigers are now 9-of-16 from the field as they have maintained their second-half lead. North Carolina is 8-of-19 and has turned the ball over four times. The Tar Heels look outmatched without Caleb Wilson.

The Tigers lead 61-46 at the under-12 timeout thanks to a 7-of-11 performance from the field in the second half. Clemson has made 3-of-4 from behind the arc and five players have at least eight points.

The Tigers scored those points in less than a minute. Suddenly it’s a 17-point game with just over 12 minutes to go.

Any hope North Carolina had of getting off to a fast start to begin the second half is gone. The Tigers are doing what they need to do early.

The Tigers were exceptional over the final 10 minutes of the first half. A couple late threes helped push Clemson further ahead as North Carolina is shooting 25% from the field.
Remember, the winner plays Duke on Friday night. You can guess who the state of North Carolina (and maybe ESPN) will want to win this game.

The Tar Heels have cut Clemson’s lead to 31-29 with a 7-0 run. That causes the Tigers to call timeout with 1:49 to go before halftime.

We jinxed it in our previous update. North Carolina went nearly four minutes without a field goal and that allowed the Tigers to sneak ahead. Both RJ Godfrey and Jestin Porter have 6 points.

FSU gets within inches of the massive upset, but Robert McCray’s potentially game-winning three falls just short after a big comeback. The Blue Devils hang on by their fingertips to advance to the tournament semifinals behind a stellar 32-point night from Isaiah Evans, who hit seven three-pointers in the win.

A huge and-one opportunity from Cayden Boozer gives Duke a 70-61 lead. The Blue Devils are rolling on a 18-2 run over the past six minutes, as FSU’s fire seems to have gone out.

And just like that, the Blue Devils are back in it. A 7-0 run in the middle of the second half gets Duke within one point of FSU. This time, it’s the Seminoles that are forced to regroup.

We’ve got a close one here in Charlotte, as FSU and Duke battle it out in the first half of the ACC tournament quarterfinals. After a slew of first-half lead changes, the Seminoles end with the slim lead after a buzzer-beating layup from Robert McCray V.
Florida State looks good against the No. 1 team in the country, but Duke has plenty left to roll with — Isaiah Evans already has 22 points (including five threes), and is keeping the Blue Devils in this game so far.
