From their time together as Team USA teammates in the 2024 Paris Olympics to some memorable battles as opponents in the Western Conference, there clearly is plenty of mutual respect between Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards and Warriors legend Steph Curry.
And though Curry was absent in Friday’s 127-117 Timberwolves win at Chase Center — in which Edwards went off for 42 points — the Minnesota phenom made sure to heap praise on the elder statesman postgame when asked about their relationship.
“That’s my boy,” Edwards told reporters. “Love Steph. Love everything about him. Like I said, to me, greatest point guard. So, yeah, just love to play against him. If he’s not playing, talk a little trash to him on the side.
“I mean, we played together [for the] USA, so learning from him and stuff, so it was fun.”

Curry and Edwards already have a storied history of trash talk, notably when Curry again was out when their teams faced off during the 2025 Western Conference Playoffs.
But even with those back-and-forths on the court, Edwards has shown a clear admiration for the Warriors’ four-time NBA champion; look no further than his comments on Curry being named an All-Star starter over him this season.
Edwards also was asked about what he learned about Curry as a person when they played together on Team USA.
“He’s super cool,” Edwards explained. “He actually doesn’t know a lot of rap music. I think that’s the best thing I learned about him. [With the] USA team, we were playing, I think it was BossMan Dlow. He was like, ‘Who is that?’ So yeah, it was kind of crazy. But he’s super cool.”
Despite that relative shortcoming for Curry, Edwards said he didn’t try to educate his teammate at all.
“You know, he’s his own person,” Edwards continued. “I’ll just be myself. He’ll be himself. I feel like that’s why we get along so well.”
Practically every basketball fan — especially fans of Team USA — certainly will hope to see this duo as teammates again when the Summer Olympics return to Los Angeles in 2028. But for now, we just will have to enjoy them as entertaining rivals.
