The Philadelphia 76ers received a historical rookie performance from VJ Edgecombe in Thursday’s 139-118 win over the Sacramento Kings on the road. On a night the Sixers needed all hands on deck, Edgecombe stepped up to the plate with a career-high 38 points, a career-high 11 assists, and seven rebounds.
Edgecombe joined Allen Iverson, Ben Simmons, and Jared McCain as the only Sixers rookies with 30-plus points and 10-plus assists in a game. He is also just the fifth rookie with 35-plus points, 5-plus rebounds, and 10-plus assists in a game joining Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Trae Young on that list per StatMuse.
After the performance, the sidelined Kelly Oubre Jr. made sure to give love to Edgecombe on his Instagram story as Oubre shared the stat line.
Edgecombe and the Sixers will look to keep things moving in the right direction when they finish their road trip against the Utah Jazz on Saturday.
