What to know about the NBA on NBC games this weekMinnesota Timberwolves vs. Boston Celtics
This week’s Sunday Night Basketball matchup tips off at 8 p.m. ET live from TD Garden in Boston. Both the T-Wolves and the Celtics are in solid playoff position in their respective conferences, but neither has clinched a berth just yet, and seeding could be everything, so expect both teams to give it all they’ve got. The Celtics have the clear advantage here, not just because they’re playing at home, but because Minnesota’s All-Star guard Anthony Edwards is out with an injury. That means the Wolves will have to fight hard for a win, but an upset is definitely possible, especially with so much to play for.
San Antonio Spurs at Miami Heat
Peacock NBA Monday begins at 7 p.m. ET in Miami. The Spurs have clinched a spot in the playoffs, while the Heat are riding the line between Play-In Tournament and automatic berth. A win over San Antonio could push Miami in the right direction, and Bam Adebayo and the rest of the Heat squad will be looking to do just that in front of a home crowd eager for more offensive fireworks. But the Spurs have a claim to being the best team in the league right now, so it won’t be easy.Â
Golden State Warriors at Dallas Mavericks
The late game of Monday’s Peacock doubleheader tips off at 9:30 p.m. ET, and features a pair of battered squads trying to close their season the right way. The Warriors, without key stars like Steph Curry, are hoping to preserve their spot as a Play-In team, while the Mavericks are basically done for the year short of some huge last-minute shifts in the standings. A win over the Warriors could initiate that shift, or it could just be a morale boost, but either way the Mavs will be gunning for a win at home.
Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers
NBA Coast 2 Coast Tuesday begins this week at 8 p.m. ET, as the Cavs host the Magic while both teams fight for the best possible playoff position. The Cavs are on the verge of an automatic berth, while the Magic are locked in a very tight race for the final automatic spots that’ll save them from a Play-In Tournament appearance. They’ll have an uphill battle as the visiting team, but a win in Cleveland could be the difference between an easier postseason path or a Play-In battle.
Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns
Coast 2 Coast Tuesday closes out at 11 p.m. ET with another battle between teams on the bubble. The Nuggets are right on the edge of slipping into Play-In territory, while the Suns are just a win or two away from moving up to an automatic playoff berth. That means this is a must-win for both teams, so expect the stars from each squad to bring it under the lights in Phoenix.Â
