Joel Embiid will miss his 13th consecutive game on Monday as the Sixers play host to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team’s Sunday evening injury report revealed. Embiid has not played a single game in March this season as he continues to recover from a strained right oblique sustained in a win over the Miami Heat on Feb. 28.
Sixers injury report ahead of tomorrow’s game vs. Thunder:
Joel Embiid – OUT (oblique strain)
Dominick Barlow – DOUBTFUL (ankle sprain)
Tyrese Maxey – OUT (finger tendon injury)
Kelly Oubre Jr. – OUT (elbow sprain)
Johni Broome – OUT (knee surgery recovery)

Initially, Embiid had been ruled out for three games and expected to be reevaluated a week later. It was then announced that Embiid would miss another week and another four games. Since then, he has been continually ruled out for each individual game.
Ahead of the Sixers’ recent three-game road trip, head coach Nick Nurse had expressed some potential for Embiid’s return but made no guarantees.
”I don’t probably wanna anticipate anything, but I think there’s a chance at that,” Nurse said of Embiid potentially returning on the road trip. “There’s a chance, hopefully.”
After missing Tuesday’s game against the Nuggets, Embiid was upgraded to doubtful for Thursday’s game before being downgraded to out shortly before the matchup. That change was the first to appear on the injury report for Embiid since it was initially announced that he would miss time. For a moment, it seemed Embiid was destined for a return in the Sixers’ Saturday night matchup with the Jazz, but he was once again ruled out and will now miss yet another game as the team returns to Philadelphia.
The Oklahoma City Thunder will be without guard Ajay Mitchell, who was suspended for his role in an altercation in OKC’s previous game against the Washington Wizards, but will see the return of star wing Jalen Williams, who has missed over five weeks. With Mitchell out and Williams easing his way back into the rotation, there should be no shortage of former Sixers Jared McCain and Isaiah Joe.
