The Orlando Magic are set to play the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night. While the Kings have struggled all season long and are in last place in the Western Conference standings with a 19-54 record, the Magic currently sit in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with a 38-34 record. They are only a couple of games back of a playoff spot, so they would love to get out of the play-in tournament if possible. As a result, every single game will be of the utmost importance down the stretch of the regular season.

Having as many players available is also crucial. Magic guard Jalen Suggs is listed as questionable to play on Thursday due to an illness, according to the NBA injury report. Meanwhile, Anthony Black (left lateral abdominal strain), Jonathan Isaac (left knee sprain) and Franz Wagner (left high ankle sprain injury management) are all listed as out.

Having Suggs on the floor will be important, especially with Black, Isaac and Wagner all unavailable to play. The Magic will closely monitor Suggs’ status ahead of tip-off on Thursday night. His official playing status will likely be made available a couple of hours before the contest.

Suggs, 24, has performed well across 47 games played this year. The guard, who is in his fifth NBA season, is averaging 13.8 points, 5.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals per outing. He is shooting 43.7 percent from the field as well.

Suggs is a player who can do a lot of things for the Magic while on the floor. Most of the focus is understandably on Paolo Banchero, but Suggs’ performance should not be overlooked. Orlando knows how important he is to finding success overall.

His ability as a play-making guard has taken a step forward this year. Suggs’ 5.3 assists per outing is by far his best career mark, as his previous high was 4.4 assists per game. Suggs has clearly figured out his role in Orlando.

In all reality, the Magic will feel confident about their chances of defeating the lackluster Kings on Thursday regardless of Suggs’ final injury status. With that being said, having him on the floor would only decrease the chances of a potential upset coming to fruition.
