Luka Dončić, Los Angeles Lakers guard, averaged 40.7 PPG over the Lakers six game road trip, becoming the first player since Michael Jordan in 1986 to do so

The Los Angeles Lakers are returning home to the Crypto.com Arena tomorrow night after a six-game road trip where they went 5-1.

During these six games, guard Luka Dončić’s performance was not only key to going 5-1, but also reached historic heights.

Across the previous six games, Dončić has averaged 40.7 PPG, being the first player since Hall of Famer Michael Jordan — who many consider the greatest basketball player of all time — in 1986 to average at least 40 points during a road trip of at least six games.

Over the past six games, Dončić has scored 36 points and 40 points against the Houston Rockets on March 16 and 18, a Lakers-career high 60 points against the Miami Heat on March 19, 33 points against the Orlando Magic on March 21, 32 points against the Detroit Pistons on March 23, and 43 points in last night’s win over the Indiana Pacers.

Even before the road trip started, Dončić had already been on a tear, as he had scored at least 30 points for the Lakers’ previous 11 games. His performance has helped power the Lakers to a 10-1 record as of late, as they are now the three seed in the Western Conference.
