Stephen Curry was there.
He was interviewed by local Charlotte, local TV, and the news, the news broadcaster asked him, “Your father Dell told us that you already asked him if an exception could be made and you could wear the number 30.”
And Steph laughed about it and he says, “Yeah, you gotta keep your options open.”
You know, it’s just a fun little back and forth.
And I posted a video this week on social media talking about that, and you get different camps of people.
You have Hornets fans who are like, “Steph doesn’t meet our six-six-and-taller requirement.
You got– Y- we’re, we’re, we’re keeping LaMelo.”

You got Warriors fans.
There’s two camps of Warriors fans.
You have the Warriors fans who are saying, “This is clickbait.
You’re an idiot.
You’re taking a fun back and forth and turning it into something that it isn’t.”
And then you have the Warriors fans who I tend to think are the realists, that no, not everybody is Kobe Bryant, not everybody is Tim Duncan, that sometimes, and I know this very well, you end up with a Tom Brady.
And Tom Brady plays his whole career and has an unbelievable career, winning many, many championships, and he’s beloved, gets the statue, and you love him almost more than the team.

And that’s what it’s like for Warriors fans with Steph Curry, just like it was for me with Tom Brady and the Patriots.
And then he goes somewhere else, and he wins there, and you’re still a fan of him.
There’s a chance Stephen Curry could be the Tom Brady.
He could be on a Tom Brady route.
And I think that interview is just a little hint, a little glimpse that at least, Tom, in the back of Stephen Curry’s mind, he’s thought about, “What if this doesn’t last forever in Golden State and I need to go somewhere else?”
And the Charlotte stuff has always been out there if he were ever to leave Golden State.

And what’s happening now, the Warriors are on the downswing.
They’re old.
Jimmy Butler’s out for probably all of next season with a torn ACL.
Moses Moody, this week after that happened, suffered a traumatic torn patellar tendon.
He’s gonna be out for all of next year, maybe the year after that as well.
The Warriors don’t have assets.
They need to replace a star player and a great role player in Moody.
Meanwhile, the Hornets are on the upswing.
And if there’s anywhere that you could argue they can improve, it’s finding someone more consistent than LaMelo, and perhaps Stephen Curry, despite being 14 years older, would be that guy.
