PHOENIX – In the past three games, Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green has surpassed three straight games of scoring 20+ points, In Saturday’s game vs. the Utah Jazz, he did that in the first half. The former second overall pick shot eight-of-15 from the field, including four-of-eight from deep for a monster half. This is his third 20-point half of the season season and gave Phoenix a 73-45 first half lead.
However, the performance has also cemented himself as a true star for the Suns, and it couldn’t have happened at a better time.

1st quarter:
Despite shooting 31.2% from beyond the arc on the season, Green has been sensational as of late. For the past three games, he is shooting 47.1% from the 3 on 5.7 attempts. The first half on Saturday continued that heater, as the 24-year-old shot three-of-five from the perimeter in the first quarter.
The best part of Green’s heater is how he was cashing in on these shots. The fifth-year guard wasn’t forcing or looking for his shot, passing the rock and being a part of Jordan Ott’s system. A key example is when Green started on the left wing and passed the ball to a cutter, that started a chain reaction of three more passes that ended up back to him for a wide open look from deep.
He only ended the frame with one assists, but the activity with and without the ball was most impressive. Green 11 points led all scorers, while he tagged on four rebounds.

2nd quarter:
After a quick run to start the 2nd frame brought the once 20-point lead to 10, Ott went back to Green to shoot some adrenaline back into the lineup. He used his tight handle to get to his spot at the right elbow to get a 11-foot floater, which he followed immediately with a 22-foot 3 from the corner on the next possession. Green finished the Suns 10-0 run with a diving layup to bring his point total to 20.
When he first returned from injury, Green looked passive trying to fit alongside Devin Booker and other scorers on the team. As of late, Green has become the team’s offense and the team’s offense has looked better than ever.
