Sacramento Kings star DeMar DeRozan has already passed a number of legendary players on the NBA’s all-time scoring list this season, including Vince Carter, Kevin Garnett, John Havlicek, Paul Pierce and Tim Duncan.

DeRozan is on the verge of passing another one of the game’s all-time greats, but that won’t happen when the Kings face the Brooklyn Nets in the fourth game of a five-game road trip Sunday at Barclays Center.

DeRozan, who has missed only one game this season, has been ruled out for Sunday’s game due to right hamstring soreness. Malik Monk has been ruled out due to a right shoulder contusion.

DeRozan is 18th on the career scoring list with 26,660 points. He needs nine points to pass Dominique Wilkins for 17th and 51 points to pass Oscar Robertson for 16th.

DeRozan’s absence on Sunday sets up the possibility of him passing Wilkins on Wednesday when the Kings visit the Toronto Raptors, the team that selected DeRozan out of USC with the ninth pick in the 2010 NBA draft. DeRozan spent the first nine years of his career in Toronto before going on to play for the San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls and Kings.

The Kings (19-56) have lost three in a row and five of their last six after opening the road trip with losses to the Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks. They have the worst record in the Western Conference and the fourth-worst record in the NBA.

The Nets (17-57) have lost 10 in a row and 20 of their last 22. They have the second-worst record in the NBA, a half-game worse than the Washington Wizards and 1 ½ games worse than the Kings.

The Nets are listing Josh Minott as questionable for Sunday’s game due to a left hip contusion. Michael Porter Jr. (left hamstring strain), Day’Ron Sharpe (left thumb surgery), Danny Wolf (left ankle sprain) and Egor Demin (left plantar fascia injury management) have been ruled out.

Sacramento will be facing the Nets on the second night of a back-to-back after suffering a 123-113 loss to the Hawks on Saturday. The Kings are 4-9 this season when playing on the second night of a back-to-back.

DeRozan, 36, is averaging 18.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists in his 17th NBA season. He is Sacramento’s second-leading scorer behind Zach LaVine, who is out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a tendon in his right hand.

Younger players have taken on larger roles in recent weeks with LaVine, De’Andre Hunter (eye), Keegan Murray (ankle), Domantas Sabonis (knee) and now Russell Westbrook (toe) sidelined due to injuries. Over the past 10 games, Maxime Raynaud has averaged 18.1 points and 8.1 rebounds, Daeqwon Plowden has averaged 15.7 points, and Devin Carter has averaged 14.8 points.
