The Atlanta Hawks clearly had revenge on their minds for their 109-102 loss to Boston at TD Garden last week when the Boston Celtics came to State Farm Arena on Monday (March 30) night, swarming star Celtics forward Jaylen Brown defensively to the point he could hardly touch the ball. The strategy paid off for the Hawks, who would win 112-102 thanks to their holding Brown to 9-of-29 shooting (including 3-of-9 from beyond the arc and 8-of-14 from the free throw line).
The Georgia native did not mince words when asked about the impact of the Hawks defense in the Boston loss, saying, “you have got to meet the level of the game, work to work to get every catch, use that physicality against them, get to the free throw line, which I did tonight. I just didn’t make my free throws. So, this game was on me.”
“I’ve got to be better,” he added. “Probably one of my worst performances in a while, and that cost us the game.”
Asked whether the Achilles tendinitis he missed time for recently was something of concern, the Cal alum said “everybody’s, dealing with something – (it’s) just some soreness.”
“Definitely want to make sure you stay healthy as much as possible and you don’t want to risk anything but, I think it’ll be fine going forward.”
