Via a press release, the team announced on Tuesday that Davis’ ligament damage in his left hand was reevaluated. It was determined that he is making progress and is expected to fully heal on time.
The star big man has been cleared for light contact workouts, as he takes a move toward an on-court return.
Although there is still no timetable for Davis’ return or a potential game when he could make his Washington debut, the update remains an undeniable positive for the Wizards. The franchise can only prepare for the 2026-27 season with the All-NBA big man anchoring their group.
Davis sustained his hand injury on Jan. 8 in his final Dallas Mavericks game. He was eventually shipped to D.C. before last month’s NBA trade deadline.
He played just 20 games this year, battling through multiple injuries, averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 blocks.Â
