Oklahoma City Thunder center Isaiah Hartenstein spent part of his afternoon giving back to the community, surprising the Star Spencer High School boys basketball team during a special practice session in Oklahoma City.

The visit came as part of Skechers’ 2025 Register Roundup program, which generated a $15,000 donation for Star Spencer High School in partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org. The funding is designed to support students experiencing homelessness or housing instability while also strengthening the school’s boys basketball program.

Hartenstein joined the team on the court for a 60-minute practice, demonstrating key basketball fundamentals, offering instruction, and sharing insight from his journey to the NBA. The Thunder big man also spent time interacting with players, answering questions, and emphasizing perseverance, discipline, and the work required to reach the next level.

The visit also included a surprise appearance, on-court skill demonstrations, mentorship opportunities, and a team Q&A session focused on life lessons beyond basketball.

This marked another step in Hartenstein’s growing connection with Star Spencer. He previously sent a digital message of encouragement during a school assembly and is already planning to continue his involvement.

“I’m just in a situation where I just want to be consistent with them,” Hartenstein said. “They already invited me to their game next season, so I’m gonna make sure I make that. But it’s cool, it’s a great group of guys. Coach was great, just watching him coach was definitely cool. But again, I just want to thank Skechers — they’re making this even possible.”

Hartenstein also surprised players with new Skechers shoes during the visit.

The event continues Skechers’ partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, which has raised more than $670,000 since 2021. Those efforts have helped provide classroom resources and support school programs for more than 17,000 students in under-resourced communities across the United States and Puerto Rico.

Hartenstein’s visit comes as the Thunder head down the stretch of the regular season, but the center made it clear giving back to the community remains a priority — and Wednesday’s visit left a lasting impression on Star Spencer’s players.
