Even if they didn’t land the superstar last February, it is widely believed that the Dubs will continue to be connected with Kawhi until the offseason.
The Golden State Warriors reportedly came close to reaching a stunner deal around Kawhi Leonard from the past NBA trade deadline.

While it did not happen, Tim Kawakami of The San Francisco Standard argued that the Warriors will still be linked with the Los Angeles Clippers’ superstar until the offseason.
“To that point, multiple league sources indicated this week that the Warriors were reasonably close to trading for Kawhi Leonard last February — apparently with much of the deal terms generally agreed to — before the Clippers ultimately decided to pull out of the talks,” the veteran columnist wrote.
After shipping James Harden and Ivica Zubac away, there was a sudden thought around the league that the Clippers might eventually deliver a fire sale by also trading Leonard away. Yet in the end, LA chose to run it back with their franchise star.
As such, all eyes continue to monitor what might be the NBA’s final resolution on dealing with Leonard and the Clippers’ alleged salary cap circumvention.
Right now, it seems that the Clippers are convinced that they made the right choice of keeping Leonard. The two-time Finals MVP has carried them to a comeback season after a brutal 6-21 start.
Leonard, who is averaging a career-best 28.1 points with 6.3 rebounds, willed the Clippers to the No. 8 seed of the West standings.
