Per Brian Windhorst, everyone is now monitoring the Magic’s coaching situation in the wake of ongoing season struggles.
There is now significant chatter across the league regarding Jamahl Mosley’s uncertain future with the Orlando Magic.
On NBA Today, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst revealed that all eyes await what might be next in the Magic’s coaching situation in the wake of their disappointing season progress this 2025-26.
“It’s dominated the conversations I’ve had within the league for the last month and a half. There’s potentially significant moving at the coaching ranks, and Orlando is the team people are watching,” Windhorst said.
The Magic have bold hopes of competing this 2025-26 season. They surrendered four unprotected first-round picks last offseason to acquire Desmond Bane from the Memphis Grizzlies to critically address their offensive and shooting woes.
Yet right now, the Magic are facing the uncertainty of qualifying for the NBA Playoffs. They are stuck in the East’s Play-In spots and are currently ninth with a 40-36 record.
Mosley has drawn a lot of attention recently in Orlando. Fans booed and called for his firing during their 130-101 brutal home loss against the Atlanta Hawks last Wednesday. He also shouldered the responsibility for their worst loss in the franchise’s history last weekend over the Toronto Raptors.
Notably, there were past reports that circulated about his deteriorating relationship with franchise star Paolo Banchero, as they were rumored not seeing eye-to-eye.
Mosley took over as Orlando’s head coach in 2021. The Magic qualified for back-to-back postseasons under his lead in 2024 and 2025.
