WASHINGTON — Philadelphia 76ers big man Andre Drummond is in year 14 of his career, but he is still adding aspects to his game.

In the 2025-26 season, Drummond has introduced an ability to shoot a corner 3-pointer efficiently. Per Cleaning the Glass, he is shooting 38% on strictly corner 3-pointers as he has added that part to his game while looking to find ways to contribute on a nightly basis.

Drummond has already made 30 3-pointers on the season which is more than what he’s made in the entirety of his first 13 seasons.

“He can shoot, right?” coach Nick Nurse said after a win over the Washington Wizards. “I think that we planned on him kind of being this guy last year. Just couldn’t quite get there with it. I mean, it’s not, probably something he’s been told to do much of his life, right? Because of his size and position. But this year, he got over that hump.”

Drummond knocked down two in the win over the Wizards on Wednesday and is looking to continue growing in that part of his game. Being in the league as long as he has, it requires a lot of work and patience to be able to knock down 3s at a consistent rate when it hasn’t been a part of your game for such a long time.

“You guys remember, early in the year, every time he wound it up, the whole crowd would gasp,” Nurse laughed. “That’s ended. He’s put up enough and he goes out in those corners, and when you got guys that can slither to the rim, they’re going to have to decide sometimes to pull in and help, and a lot of times that kick out to him is an awfully good shot.”

As the Sixers head into the final six games of the regular season and into the playoffs, Drummond will play some type of role for this group as they look to make a deep run into the playoffs. Philadelphia has not gotten past Round 2 since the 2001 team made the finals.
