Detroit recalled Lanier from the G League’s Motor City Cruise on Saturday.
Lanier will likely be a bench option for the Pistons in Saturday’s visit to Philadelphia, having played a limited role in the rotation throughout the campaign. He spent the last four days on assignment with Motor City for the G League postseason, posting 20-plus points in two consecutive starts. While he’s not guaranteed a major role at the NBA level, the rookie did score eight points in 25 minutes over three appearances in late March.
