The game will be extremely important for the Sixers when it comes to playoff seeding, as they’re trying to maintain their slim lead for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. If they are able to maintain their position, they will avoid having to participate in the Play-In Tournament.
Joel Embiid ruled out vs. Pistons due to right oblique injury management
Unfortunately for the Sixers, they won’t have the services of star center Joel Embiid, who has been ruled out of the game due to right oblique injury management.
Embiid’s status isn’t especially surprising given that the big man played against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night and he doesn’t typically play on both nights of a back-to-back. Embiid tallied 19 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists in 34 minutes against the Timberwolves.

After the game against Minnesota, Embiid expressed frustration regarding the way his availability is being handled by the team.
“I guess they make the decisions,” Embiid said. “So it doesn’t matter what I think or not. I just got to follow it. … I don’t know what’s going on, I just want to play basketball.”
