It seems like another lifetime since the Pistons finished in last place in the Eastern Division. But for two years in a row, from 2022 to 2024, they ended up in the very last spot.
Fast forward to Saturday, when the Pistons clinched the top spot in the division with a 116–93 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. They hadn’t done that since 2007.
The Pistons are 57–21, 4.5 games ahead of the Boston Celtics and 7 games ahead of the Knicks. Both teams could be fierce competition in the East.
In the West, Oklahoma has the best record in the NBA at 61–16, followed by San Antonio at 59–19.
