Despite a disappointing season marked by a 25-game suspension of Paul George for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy and the questionable trade of sharpshooter Jared McCain to Oklahoma City, the Philadelphia 76ers are still in the mix for the league’s Play-In Tournament.
And the Spurs now face the team Monday at the Frost Bank Center.
The Silver and Black routed the Sixers by 40 points last month in Philadelphia, with rookie Dylan Harper and veteran Devin Vassell each contributing 22 points. Harper has excelled in a reserve role for San Antonio this season, and recently impressed with 24 points in his first career start vs. the Indiana Pacers.
“We’re No. 2 in the West,” Harper told reporters following the win. “To me, we’re the best team in the NBA, so just for me to get drafted to an organization that’s so family-orientated, I think any rookie regardless of what role you’re in, you should want to come here.”
After ending the longest playoff drought in franchise history, the Spurs now look to secure their spot atop the Western Conference.
$40 and up, 7 p.m. Monday, April 6, Frost Bank Center, 1 Frost Bank Center Drive, (210) 444-5140, frostbankcenter.com, Fanduel Sports Network-Southwest.
