Just days remain before the playoffs, which means the end of regular season NBA on NBC broadcasts until the 2026-2026 season starts this fall. NBC Sports will host select playoff matchups in the coming weeks, but the first NBA on NBC season in more than two decades is winding down.

What to expect from Hornets-Celtics and Rockets-Suns

The Celtics are on track to make another run at the NBA Finals if they stay healthy and keep their league-best defense on point. They’ve already clinched a playoff berth and will likely be the 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, behind only the Pistons. With the return of Jayson Tatum to the lineup, they look primed for the postseason. The Hornets are also looking ahead to the playoffs, but they’ve got more at stake in this game. They’re in Play-In Tournament territory right now, but they’re just a couple of games away from an automatic playoff berth that would avoid a play-in if they can just keep winning. Winning against the Celtics is never easy, but Brandon Miller and the rest of the Charlotte squad will be fighting hard for a dub Tuesday night.

Out West, we’ve got a similar situation with the Rockets and the Suns. Houston’s got their playoff spot clinched and they’re looking ahead to a tough postseason in the threat-filled Western Conference, but Phoenix is still fighting for a better position. Right now they’re set to be the top seed in the Play-In, just a few games back from the Timberwolves, who are trying to hold on to the last remaining automatic playoff berth in the conference. If the Suns can win out and the T-wolves stumble, they’ll be able to switch from Play-In to playoffs, but Kevin Durant and the Rockets are standing in their way. So for this doubleheader, the stakes are incredibly high.
