While he didn’t disclose how long Doncic will stay in Europe to seek medical help, Redick stated that the Slovenian superstar is currently in good spirits.

Addressing the media ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers’ Tuesday clash against the Oklahoma City Thunder, head coach JJ Redick declined to specify the duration that Luka Doncic will stay in Europe to seek medical help for his hamstring injury.

As such, he made it clear that the Slovenian superstar is currently highly spirited and motivated to aggressively attack his recovery in hopes of finally rejoining the team as soon as possible.

“I’m not gonna share how long he’s going to be over there, but I think he’s in good spirits,” Redick shared, via Daniel Starkand of Lakers Nation. “I think he’s, in my conversations with him, he’s motivated to do everything possible.

“I know for him, it’s hard for him not to be on a basketball court. That’s his happy place. He’s one of the handful of guys that really play year round, and it’s not just international competition, but he likes to be in the gym. He likes to be working on his craft and I think it’s hard for him. He wants to get back on the court.”

As it is, Doncic decided to go to Europe for specialized medical treatment to speed up his recovery from a Grade 2 left hamstring strain.

He is already out for the remainder of the 2025-26 regular season, and his return status remains uncertain for the upcoming NBA Playoffs.

The Lakers’ championship hopes certainly revolve around Doncic, and the franchise can only have its fingers crossed that he will fully recover in a miraculously quick timeframe. Before going down, the Los Angeles guard was on a tear as one of the legitimate MVP candidates, averaging a league-leading 33.5 points with 8.3 assists and 7.7 rebounds in 64 games.

LA already qualified in the NBA Playoffs and is currently fourth in the West standings (50-28) with three more games left on its regular-season calendar.
