The San Antonio Spurs are scheduled to face the Portland Trail Blazers at home on Wednesday at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, but there’s a chance that they will not have the services of star big man Victor Wembanyama.

The former No. 1 overall NBA draft pick was hurt in Monday’s showdown against the Philadelphia 76ers and is now listed as doubtful for the Blazers game, via Shams Charania of The Athletic.

“Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is listed doubtful to play in Wednesday’s game against Portland due to a rib contusion but there’s confidence he will play at least one of the team’s final three regular-season games,” Charania shared via a social media post on X, formerly Twitter.

Wembanyama left the Philadelphia game in the first half and did not return. He scored 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field with five rebounds, three blocks and an assist in 16 minutes before his night ended, though San Antonio was still able to come away with a 115-102 win.

The Spurs have already locked up the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, so they can afford Wembanyama to be absent the rest of the way through the 2025-26 NBA regular season.

However, Wembanyama needs to play at least 20 minutes in one of San Antonio’s remaining three outings to be eligible for the major NBA awards, per the 65-game rule. Wembanyama has played in 63 regular-season games but is 64th overall this season, as he also played in the NBA Cup championship game against the New York Knicks.

Wembanyama’s next chance to suit up will be on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks, before San Antonio’s regular-season finale on Sunday against the Denver Nuggets. Both games will be held at Frost Bank Center.
