Have a night, Kennedy Chandler.

The former Tennessee point guard put on a show in New Orleans on Tuesday night, dropping some massive numbers in the box score during the Utah Jazz’s loss against the Pelicans in the Smoothie King Center.

In 43 minutes off the bench, Chandler dropped 31 points on 11-of-18 shooting and 2-of-3 shooting from three-point range. He also tallied eight assists, seven rebounds, and two steals on the night. Chandler’s 31 points were a career-high in scoring and led the Jazz’s entire team, which includes former Kentucky big man Oscar Tshiebwe and former Duke big man Kyle Filipowski.

Chandler originally signed a 10-day contract with the Jazz on Mar. 20. Then, on Apr. 1, Kennedy inked another 10-day contract with Utah.

He’s played in 10 games for the Jazz since signing the original contract, averaging 31.4 minutes, 13.9 points, 6.4 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game. Prior to Tuesday night’s showing, Chandler’s best game came in his Utah debut contest with 19 points against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Chandler was originally signed by the Jazz after playing for the 76ers’ G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats. He averaged 20.4 points on 46.5% shooting from the field and 31.8% on threes. He also posted 9.6 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game.

The Memphis native played at Tennessee for one season during the Vols’ 2021-2022 campaign. He started all 34 games for the Volunteers and averaged 13.9 points, 4.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. He earned All-SEC Second Team honors for his play, and was also named to the All-SEC Freshman Team and earned the SEC Tournament MVP award.

Chandler was originally selected with the 38th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies.
