The Heat have converted two-way guard Jahmir Young to a standard contract, fully replacing the team’s vacant roster spot following Terry Rozier’s exit.
The Miami Heat are signing two-way player Jahmir Young to a two-year deal, sources told Shams Charania of ESPN.
Young will earn the vacant roster spot from the Heat after it was recently announced that the franchise will waive Terry Rozier.
The Heat’s decision to part ways with Rozier happened in the wake of the embattled guard’s ongoing legal battle from gambling controversies.
Rozier was placed on indefinite leave since he was arrested in late October for his alleged involvement in illegal sports betting.
He holds an expiring $26.6 million contract this 2025-26 season and is set to become an unrestricted free agent.
While he hasn’t played that much for Miami, Young still made himself a standout for the Heat’s G League affiliate this year. Appearing in six games for Sioux Force Skyforce, the 25-year-old is averaging 25.5 points, 6.8 assists and 6.0 rebounds.
With a 42-39 record that puts them on the 10th seed of the Eastern Conference heading to Sunday’s regular-season finale, the Heat are slated to enter the Play-In Tournament.
