Have a night, Jahmai Mashack!
The former Tennessee Volunteer put together his best professional performance during the Memphis Grizzlies 147-101 loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday night in Salt Lake City. Mashack recorded his first career triple-double with 13 points, 15 rebounds, and 14 assists. He led the Grizzlies in both rebounds and assists during his 48 minutes on the court.
Mashack was one of just six players who saw time on the court Friday as the Grizzlies deal with a number of injuries late in the season. He took full advantage of his opportunity, though. The do-it-all player was all over the court as he stuffed the stat sheet. He knocked down 6-of-13 attempts from the floor despite going 0-of-2 from the three-point line.

Technically, Mashack went for a quadruple-double if you factor in his 10 turnovers on the night. Still, though, it was a memorable one for the rookie out of Tennessee.
After barely playing from November to January, Mashack has seen a much increased role with the team with the Grizzlies in tank-mode during the end of the season. He’s capitalized on his chance, proving his versatile worth on the court.
From February to April, Mashack is averaging 27.0 minutes on the court per appearance. On the season as a whole, he’s averaging 6.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. Friday’s contest proved to be a season-high in minutes, rebounds, and assists.
Mashack wasn’t the only former Vol to have a great showing in Salt Lake City on Friday night. Jazz guard Kennedy Chandler, a starter for Utah, posted 26 points and 10 assists in his 41 minutes of action. Chandler went 11-of-20 from the floor and 4-of-7 from three-point range to get up to his point total. He also had five rebounds and four turnovers on the night.
Mashack and Chandler both played together on the Vols’ 2021-2022 squad. Chandler declared for the NBA Draft after his lone year in Knoxville, while Mashack became a four-year senior with the program.
