Cameron Payne, New York Knicks
Ahead of their Friday night matchup on the road in Indiana, the Philadelphia 76ers made a roster move. They cut ties with the veteran guard, Cam Payne.
Although Payne was expected to play a minor role in the team’s upcoming postseason, the veteran guard suffered a setback, which would prevent him from playing in any potential Play-In Tournament game next week.
While the move is unfortunate, it was necessary for the Sixers. Before they tipped off against the Indiana Pacers, the team sent a message to Payne on social media.

Payne got a late start with the 76ers this season, and he’ll have an early exit.

When the Sixers needed a veteran backup guard to add in order to replace Patrick Beverley in 2023-2024, the Sixers landed Cam Payne.
At the time, Payne checked in for 31 games, averaging 9.3 points and 3.1 assists, while shooting 38.2% from three.
In the playoffs, Payne came off the bench for five games and knocked down 44.4% of his shots from three, producing 5.6 points per game.
Since his first stint in Philly, Payne played one season for the New York Knicks. He had a preseason run with the Indiana Pacers back in the fall, and went overseas to play for Paritzan Mozzart Bet in Serbia back in December before the Sixers came calling.
Payne played in 22 games for the Sixers when he returned for his second stint this year. He shot 33.0% from three and averaged 7.4 points per game in 22 outings.

According to an official announcement, the Sixers signed Dalen Terry to a standard NBA contract after cutting Payne on April 10.
Terry is a former first-round pick (18th overall) for the Chicago Bulls. After spending four seasons with the Bulls, Terry was traded to the New York Knicks. The Knicks flipped Terry over to the New Orleans Pelicans, who later waived him.
Back in February, the Sixers signed Terry to a two-way contract. He got a promotion in place of Payne this week.
When he was with the Bulls, Terry averaged 3.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists, with 44.4% shooting from the field.
