The 2025-26 NBA regular season officially ended on Sunday, and with that, Jaylen Brown’s incredible campaign is officially in the books.

Brown took his game to new heights this year, averaging personal bests with 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game and emerging as a legitimate MVP candidate for the first time in his career. He also stepped up in Jayson Tatum’s absence for much of the season, leading the Boston Celtics to 56 wins and the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.

Unfortunately for Brown, he probably won’t win MVP this year, and he knows it. He knows his stats aren’t quite good enough compared to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama. 

However, he still thinks he deserves credit for playing so well in the face of adversity this season based on his X post on Sunday.

“True value takes form when the adversity hits,” Brown wrote.

In other words, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Brown certainly proved that this year, leading the Celtics on a nightly basis and helping them remain at an elite level despite the Tatum injury and offseason departures. He claimed to be the best two-way player in basketball, doing it all on both ends of the floor.

This season was a test and a learning experience for Brown, who passed with flying colors. He evolved as a player, improving individually while also making his teammates better. He rose to the occasion and overcame the obstacles, authoring one of the best individual campaigns in franchise history.

With the NBA Playoffs starting this weekend, now the real adversity is about to begin.
