Breaking news: Kawhi Leonard is human.
The Los Angeles Clippers had an embarrassing collapse against the Golden State Warriors, 126-121, in the Play-In Tournament at Intuit Dome on Wednesday, with Leonard disappearing in the fourth quarter.
Leonard only scored two points in the final period. He did not score until the last 17 seconds, a dunk that cut the Warriors’ lead to five. It was largely inconsequential, as Golden State completed the come-from-behind win and ended Los Angeles’ season.
Leonard was quickly roasted by fans on X after his non-existence in the fourth quarter.
“Kawhi’s fourth quarter is the biggest choke I ever saw in my life. They let him score two points at the end by sympathy,” said @APassadona29853.
“Playoff Kawhi had two garbage points in the fourth quarter. Pack your bags,” added @LAkerSC_213.
“Kawhi scored just two points in the fourth. Y’all still don’t get how crazy this is,” echoed @waxzyy_.
“Two points in the fourth quarter is unacceptable, Kawhi,” posted @Jpatt024.
“I’ve never seen Kawhi get b*****d like this in my life. Kawhi with only two meaningless points in the 4Q when the game was out of reach already,” commented @KaashMoneyy94.
Many commended Draymond Green for putting Leonard in a straitjacket in the closing period, where the Clippers blew a 13-point lead.
The two-time Finals MVP finished with 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting. He also had seven rebounds, three assists, and five turnovers.
Leonard’s struggles couldn’t come at a worse time for Los Angeles, as he had an outstanding campaign, averaging 27.9 points on 50.5% shooting.
