Speculation surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future took another turn after former Milwaukee Bucks player Charlie Villanueva predicted a potential blockbuster trade involving Giannis Antetokounmpo and Paolo Banchero.
Speaking on the To the Baha podcast, Villanueva, who said he remains connected to the Milwaukee Bucks organization, suggested that Antetokounmpo could land with the Orlando Magic this offseason in a deal centered around Banchero.
“You know I’m involved in the Milwaukee Bucks situation, I’m involved with organization somehow, someway. You know where he’s going? You guys want to know where he’s going? Orlando Magic. Remember I said that. Giannis is going to the Orlando Magic. Paolo (Banchero), have a good night,” Villanueva said.
While the claim remains speculative, it adds to growing league wide chatter about Antetokounmpo’s long-term future in Milwaukee following a disappointing and injury-affected season. The two-time MVP has two seasons remaining on his current three-year, $175 million deal, including a $58.4 million salary for the 2026–27 campaign and a $62.7 million player option for 2027–28.
Antetokounmpo, 31, continued to produce at an elite level despite limited availability. He averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game while shooting 62.4 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range across 36 appearances. His season, however, was marked by injuries and increased scrutiny surrounding the direction of the Bucks.

Paolo Banchero named centerpiece in predicted Magic-Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo trade
On the other side, Banchero represents the cornerstone of Orlando’s rising core. The 23-year-old forward is set to begin a five-year maximum rookie extension valued at $239.5 million next season, with an estimated $41.2 million salary in 2026–27 and a $54.4 million player option for 2030–31.
Banchero delivered a strong campaign, averaging 22.2 points, a career-high 8.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. He shot 45.9 percent from the field, 30.5 percent from beyond the arc and a career-best 77.5 percent from the free-throw line across 72 games while logging 34.8 minutes per contest.
The Magic remain focused on their immediate postseason outlook. Orlando is coming off a 109–97 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in its first Play-In Tournament appearance and now faces an elimination matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. A victory would secure the No. 8 seed and a first-round meeting with the Detroit Pistons in the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
For Milwaukee, the offseason looms with uncertainty after missing the postseason. While Villanueva’s prediction remains unconfirmed, it reflects the growing speculation that could define the next phase for both franchises if significant roster decisions emerge.
